19th Century French bronze figure of the seated Lorenzo De Medici, Duke of Urbino. Modelled in Roman armour he is sat deep in thought, he was given the nickname The Thoughtful One). Circa 1880.
In 1520, Michelangelo was commissioned by the Medici Grand Dukes of Tuscany to design a family mausoleum, including this one. Duke Lorenzo de' Medici, was the grandson of Lorenzo the Magnificent and nephew of Pope Leo X.
