A superior Regency cast and wrought iron ‘hob’ Fire Grate of classical design.
The arched backplate with Gothick motifs and flat top plates featuring opposing recumbent lions, above tapering scroll supports adorned with brass acanthus mounts and paw feet, the projected central basket with central bars and shaped finials. Terminating on stepped plinths with sunken roller castors for easier movement. Circa 1810, possibly Irish. An important piece of imposing proportions. In good original condition with no damage.

The Red Lodge Museum is a historic house museum in Bristol, England. The original building was Tudor/Elizabethan, and construction began in 1579–1580, possibly to the design of Sebastiano Serlio. The main additional building phases are from the 1730s and the early 19th century.
