A rare late 18th/early 19th Century country armchair, of unusual naive form from the Isle of Man. The swept back with naturalistic carved wood moulded edge and carved IOM emblem of the three legs to the middle of the back, with charming carved puffin arm terminals, and dog kennel under the seat with arched door, also still retaining the cast iron ring to the left side corner. All finished in the original duck egg blue paint and original paint to the Puffins. With time worn surface and wear to the seat and back. This was probably constructed as a Harbour Masters Chair by a local craftsman and hence being a one of its kind piece of furniture. Circa 1800.
