A fabulous Regency marble top centre table, the thick veneer top of wonderfully figured book matched Italian Giallo Siena marble with rich ochre background, heavily interrupted by dramatic dark purple, chocolate brown and grey veining. The Oak and giltwood centre table base, comprising of parcel gilt moulded edge with slab end supports and flanked with carved giltwood corbels top and bottom, raised on plinth bases and terminating in giltwood bun feet and sunken castors, all joined by central stretcher. Circa 1830. In the manner of Morel and Seddon. In good original condition with no damage.

Oak and parcel gilding is a distinct hallmark for the craftsmanship of Morel and Seddon, along with style of this table matching other known examples. Morel and Seddon were  made famous when commissioned to furnish Windsor Castle for King George IV between 1827-1829. 
Siena marble is a legendary luxury material quarried in Tuscany, and heavily favoured during the Roman Empire right through to modern day.
